PRESIDENT'S APRIL LETTER

Dear OCAPL Members,

Our organization is being honored by AAPL as the 2025 Local Association of the Year! Thank you to the committees and board that work so hard to make OCAPL a top-tier association. And, of course, thank you to the sponsors and members that contribute to and participate in each event. This honor is for us all!

We have a great lineup of opportunities to connect, learn, and engage in the coming weeks. On Thursday, April 23rd, we will gather for one of our most energetic events of the year - our Pickleball Tournament. Whether you are playing or cheering from the sidelines, this one is sure to be entertaining!

On Thursday, May 7th, we will host our Field Landman Seminar. This seminar is designed to provide valuable insight for professionals across all experience levels and is a great opportunity to sharpen skills and stay current in a rapidly evolving landscape. If you are an AAPL member, you can attend for free; although, sign up fast before your spot is gone!

The annual Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, May 18th. This event remains highly valued by members and provides an excellent occasion for networking and fostering relationships in a relaxed setting on the course.

Please plan to attend our next Member Meeting on Monday, June 1st. During this meeting, we will vote on two proposed amendments to our bylaws, each of which are important to the continued growth and adaptability of our organization. I encourage you to review the “Shaping the Future” article in this month’s newsletter for additional details so you can arrive informed and ready to participate in the vote.

Finally, I want to share bittersweet news that is both a celebration and a moment of reflection for OCAPL. After an incredible 23 years of dedicated service, Teresa Portwood will retire from her role as OCAPL Manager.

Teresa has been the heart and backbone of this organization over the years! Her unwavering commitment, institutional knowledge, and genuine care for our members have helped shape OCAPL into what it is today. She has been a constant source of stability, professionalism, and warmth, and has had a lasting impact on us all. OCAPL would not be what it is today without Teresa’s dedication behind the scenes.

While we will miss her tremendously, we wish her the best in her well-deserved next chapter. To honor Teresa and celebrate her remarkable career, we will host a Retirement Happy Hour on Thursday, July 23rd. Please join us as we come together to thank her, share memories, and wish her well!

As always, thank you for your continued engagement and support of OCAPL. I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming events.

Warm regards,

Dianna Ray

OCAPL President
