JULY/AUGUST PRESIDENT'S LETTER
Welcome Back! As students return to school and step into a new year full of possibility, I can’t help but draw a parallel between the classroom and our organization. Just as the school year sets the stage for growth, discovery, and new friendships, OCAPL provides those same opportunities in a professional setting. With summer ending and routines beginning again, many of us feel a renewed sense of structure and momentum. This newsletter will highlight plenty of ways for us to reconnect, collaborate, and continue to contribute to the community and our industry in the next couple of months.
First, I want to give special thanks to the dedicated group of OCAPL volunteers that came together at the Regional Food Bank in July. They packed 1,480 snacks for students across the Oklahoma City metro. This effort reflects the spirit of service that defines OCAPL and the difference we can make when we work side by side.
Next up is the sold-out Sporting Clay Tournament on August 29 at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports. This event is always a favorite amongst our members! The strong turnout is a reflection of the amazing community we share, and we are excited to spend the day alongside so many of you.
September will bring several opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together:
- Educational Luncheon: September 8 at the Petroleum Appliance. Come attend this educational luncheon where Jessie Washam will present “Probate Solutions Every Landman Should Know”.
- Social Happy Hour: September 11th at Skydance Brewery. This is a perfect opportunity to unwind and enjoy great conversations.
- OCAPL Weekend Takeoff: September 12-14 at Beaver’s Bend in Broken Bow, OK. A weekend of speakers, activities and fun in the beautiful scenery of Broken Bow.
To close, just as students lean on teachers, the next generations of Landman depend on mentors. The APPL Advisory Landman Connection Program seeks experienced professionals to guide emerging talent in our industry, including students from AAPL-accredited universities. As a mentor you will help foster professional growth, share expertise, and support the future of our profession.
Sincerely,
Clarke Richards, CPL
OCAPL President
