Bad apples in the
courthouses?
OCAPL is getting
reports of field Landmen behaving badly in various courthouses in our
state. I’ve asked for specific names of these people, and I implore
those employing brokers, and lead brokers to be sure and visit with your
people and make sure they are all adhering to proper courthouse
etiquette. In many cases all the public sees of our land profession are
those field Landmen, and they are also ambassadors for our industry.
Reminders:
The Oklahoma
University PLM / Energy Management Program celebrates the 50th
anniversary April 18 and all friends and alumni of the school should
look forward to attending if possible.
Really need help
finding OCAPL office space we can own, instead of rent, and to upgrade
the OCAPL Website.
Soon each member will
have an opportunity to complete a computer generated survey, with many
questions for the membership to literally vote on, or otherwise opine.
Since my last letter, I’ve had zero responses from the membership with
suggestions for questions to be polled. Please be thinking of questions
that OCAPL could include in such a survey, e-mail them to me at
ken.wilpitz@dvn.com and let’s try and resolve some of these
questions . . .
Many Thanks....
OCAPL sponsored a very
successful new social function labeled the “Girls Night Out” scheduled
the evening of February 12th (of course, the Boys were
invited) this serious attempt to provide the OCAPL Female membership
with a social function just for them and of their choosing was quite a
success with almost one hundred attendees. OCAPL is forming a committee
to find other venues more suitable for our female membership.
Thanks to Dana Murphy,
our February OCAPL Monthly Meeting speaker. I enjoyed meeting Dana and
she seems well qualified and quite passionate about becoming Oklahoma’s
next Corporation Commissioner.
Ryan Coe closed a deal
with the downtown Skirvin, to bring our monthly meetings to the grand
old hotel. Last month was our first meeting, a few kinks to iron out
but I think the attendees for the most part had a great time. OCAPL is
looking for additional sponsors for this meeting.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Ken
Wilpitz
2008 OCAPL President
