First off, a huge thank you to the Golf Tournament Committee and Fishing Tournament Committee for their awesome work on their respective events. These two huge events have been nothing short of impressive this year. Even with a little rain, the golf tournament went off smoothly and no one threw food at me when I pulled Joe Easley’s name for the trip to Costa Rica. Although we take a hiatus from the monthly meetings throughout the summer, we’ve got some great events to look forward to.
With the industry back in full swing here in Oklahoma, I am hoping these upcoming gatherings will encourage our current members to invite new people and allow past members to be involved with OCAPL again. Being a member based organization; our greatest asset is our membership. The support of our members allows OCAPL to give back to many other organizations through volunteer work and fundraising, not forgetting the fun parties and events!
Upcoming dates to remember include an OCAPL networking event, the 2017 Summer Social at The Jones Assembly on July 20th. This Happy Hour styled gathering will be a great opportunity to remind someone who may have stopped attending OCAPL events through the downturn to join up again and take part in the fun! On July 27th, OCAPL has joined in support of YPE to help host the 2017 Energy Forum at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. This multidisciplinary forum is a great opportunity to network with young professionals from all facets of the oil and gas industry. Rounding out the summer is the annual Sporting Clays Tournament being held on August 25th. This event fills up quickly, so be sure to get your entries in early this year!
For those of you attending the AAPL Annual Meeting in Seattle, it sounds like it is shaping up to have a nice turnout. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that it’s in Seattle in the middle of summer, which will be a nice break from the heat. OCAPL and some of its members have been nominated for multiple awards. In years past, we have been successful in receiving many of these awards at the national level. None of which would be possible without the consistency and hard work that our membership, board members, chairs and committees provide. Just another reason to help build a strong membership!
We will resume business as usual on September 11th with our monthly socials and meetings at the Oklahoma History Center.
Should you ever have suggestions, questions or concerns regarding OCAPL, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

2017 OCAPL President
